Job summary
A Trauma Specialty Doctor post is available at the Horton Hospital as a full-time appointment to start 05/02/24. This is to fill a vacancy in the CESR programme for a period of six months.
Main duties of the job
The duties will involve specialty doctor on-call for admissions including ward cover, day to day care of in-patients, clinics and theatre sessions at the Horton Hospital
On-call duties will be based at the Horton General. At the Horton this involves resident first on-call and a shift system of 1:9 with prospective cover. 1:6 within week on-call, 1:9 weekend on-call.
Trauma supervised operating will be available and training in this is expected.

We are advertising one vacant post to fill a vacancy on our bespoke CESR rotation, based within the directorate of Trauma and Orthopaedics, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The Horton General leads on hip fracture care for the Trust and has maintained a top five position in the National Hip Fracture Database for many years. It manages a typical district general hospital trauma workload.
Daily fracture clinics run on both sites 7 days a week.
Orthogeriatrics:
There is a team of two Consultant Orthogeriatricians working at the Hortons who together with a junior team provide day to day care to frail elderly trauma patients

Essential
- Full GMC registration or eligibility to obtain this within 3 months (or within 6 months for non-EEA applicants).
- Primary Medical Qualification
- Valid Advanced Trauma Life Support certificate
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Minimum four years of postgraduate training of which two of those in the specialty of trauma and orthopaedics
Desirable
- MRCS or equivalent Higher Research Degree
Clinical Competence
Essential
- Written evidence of satisfactory training to date e.g. workplace assessments.
Teaching

- Experience of teaching undergraduate medical students & Foundation Doctors.
