We are seeking to appoint aInformation Co-ordinator and Analystto join our team to support our Paediatric Diabetes service at Oxford Children's Hospital.
We are seeking to appoint a proactive, motivated individual who enjoys working in a challenging and busy environment within our friendly team in Oxford. The post holder will support with the collection of data, analysis, reporting and dissemination across the Division with a focus on audits for the paediatric diabetes service. The main aim of this post is to promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge, and technology to inform the delivery of high quality innovative clinical care and outcomes for patients under our care.
Main duties of the job
Important duties include:
- Be responsible for collecting and presenting data for the annual National Paediatric Diabetes Audit and other relevant audits such as Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREM) results, spotlight audits and Transition audits.
- To use a variety of sources of information, including existing database systems, for the collection, entry, validation, and extraction of information.
- The production of data, information, and intelligence using a variety of IT tools and analytical techniques.
- To disseminate statistical information and results.
- To support the provision of data and information for organisational purposes and to meet national and legal requirements.

Job responsibilities
- To use Electronic Patient Record systems, electronic databases, clinical notes, and other screening methods to identify patients for relevant audits.
- To create, update and maintain electronic records of the status of the patients for all relevant NOTSSCaN Clinical Services. Ensure data collected is administered into relevant systems is accurate and meets agreed deadlines.
- Extract and input relevant data onto both internal and external systems on a daily/weekly basis. Ensure that information provided is validated, accurate, appropriate, and presented to the Directorate standard.
- Be responsible for collecting data in a live environment, i.e. Clinics and wards. This requires face to face patient contact and liaising with clinicians/administrators. Monitor and track patient data in line with patient pathways.
- To collect, analyse, develop, interpret, and present information to a high standard. To ensure high quality and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of data.
- To present information to a variety of audiences, drawing conclusions and implications from the analysis of data and support team managers with remedial actions.
- To monitor and investigate data quality issues, ensuring problems are brought to the attention of senior management.
- To participate in the regular and routine reporting for internal and external requirements, within deadlines and to the Directorate standard.
- Assist senior management in the development and production of the organisation requirement for the monthly provision of corporate/commissioning activity, ensuring the validity of the data.
- To support senior management in the provision of financial and activity information as requested in conjunction with the Trusts Commissioning and Finance Departments.
- Support with establishing and maintaining protocols and procedures for the collection, management, use, reporting, and presentation of routinely collected and supplied information.
- To support the Paediatric Diabetes clinical team and Operational Services Managers to ensure high data quality standards are developed and maintained.
- To act as the point of contact for Paediatric Diabetes staff for data reporting requirements, ensuring that all queries are resolved with skill, sensitivity and in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
- To provide support on any ad hoc data capture/request/management enquires.
- To carry out duties with a reasonable degree of independence, without day-to-day supervision.
- To provide supervision, guidance and training to Information Co-ordinators as required.
- Be attune to how the impact of data collected and reported reflects, to local, regional and national audiences, the standards and quality of care provided by the Division and specifically the Paediatric Diabetes service.
- To attend clinical and network meetings as required, with the opportunity to attend annual NPDA conference if relevant.
- Be aware of national data standards and definitions and, where applicable, comply with them in relation to the collection, analysis, and reporting of data and information.
- To be conversant and compliant with the Data Protection Act, Information Governance Policy and IT Security Policy.
- To support the Paediatric Diabetes service with their Go Digital agenda and initiatives in line with the OUH Trust vision, including the transition from external web-based platforms to an integrated EPR process for data collection.
- To be flexible in ones approach to the role as it develops.
