Job summary

Thank you for taking the time to consider your application for the role of Specialist Occupational Therapist within the Frailty and General Medical (AGM) workstream at the Horton Hospital Banbury.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants who provide high quality therapy intervention to patients across Emergency and Ambulatory care, Acute General Medicine, Trauma and Critical Care. This role will be based in the Frailty service on the Emergency and Short Stay wards but there will be opportunities for cross covering to other areas as required.

The team seeks to minimise the adverse physical and cognitive impact of hospitalisation on patients through the application of an early intervention, home first model. As part of a multi-professional team, you will identify and undertake a comprehensive assessment of need at the point of hospital admission with the aim of promoting a safe discharge from the hospital and promoting active recovery through collaboration and onward referrals.

We will be seeking an individual who has experience of working in fast paced environment, with high level skills in risk management and complex discharge planning.

Main duties of the job

This role provides an opportunity to work with our respected and integrated therapy team and demonstrate experienced Occupational Therapy skills in a variety of clinical areas at the Horton hospital whilst specialising in Acute Frailty and Elderly care.

There is an expectation to work collaboratively with members of the wider multidisciplinary team in order to provide an effective, evidence-based pathway of assessment and care for patients and to support the Clinical Service Unit priorities for early intervention, active recovery and support of a 7-day service.

The Therapy Service is committed to learning and development and supports regular supervision and protected CPD time. There is the opportunity to develop leadership skills in the support and mentoring of junior staff and students and participation in quality improvement, clinical audit and research projects is encouraged.
