Job summary

  • To maximise value from the supply chain by developing and leading on strategic procurement and category management across the designated corporate expenditure categories.
  • To be the dedicated point of contact for all procurement and supply chain issues associate with the designated category of expenditure and to coordinate activities with the divisional Procurement and Category Business Partners where appropriate.
  • To manage designated expenditure categories across the Trust divisions where

Main duties of the job

Category Business Partner Corporate Band 8b

We are looking for an experienced Category Business Partner to oversee the management of all Corporate expenditure for the Trust and to lead the development of sourcing strategies to deliver value-for-money and improved services for our patients.

We are a forward-thinking team and whilst cost reduction activity remains important, our focus is beyond the traditional approaches, and is for the Trust to become the 'partner of choice' for key suppliers across the healthcare sector - a key strategic partner for product/service development, research, innovation and working collaboratively to improve healthcare for patients.

These roles will provide a high-level of expert knowledge and skill to ensure we are providing the best practice procurement and strategic sourcing, maximising value from the supply chain and develop a well-defined procurement category strategies and plans.

You will have experience of project management techniques, developing category strategies and managing complex procurement projects including business cases, options appraisal, tender documentation, tender evaluation and contract award processes.

Essential

  • Degree level education or equivalent
  • Management skills and knowledge acquired through training and experience.
  • Evidence of highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience.
  • Recognised continuing personal/career development at an advanced level

Desirable

  • Member of category-specific professional body
  • Personal/career development to Masters level or equivalent.
  • Prince2 or other recognised project management qualification
  • Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (or equivalent relevant experience) o

Experience/Skills

Essential

  • Experience of managing complex procurement projects including business case, options appraisal, tender documentation, tender evaluation and contract award processes.
  • A working knowledge of the NHS/Public Sector - and public sector procurement rules.
  • Knowledge of Category Management techniques and experience of the development and implementation of category management plans and processes across significant categories of expenditure.
  • Strong understanding of unlocking value from procurement & supply chain, such as sourcing, tendering, demand management, standardisation and contract management.
  • Experience of working proactively with key suppliers to develop and adopt innovative products and solutions.
  • Experience in Supplier Relationship Management, including supplier performance, continuous improvement and management of supplier expectations.
  • Experience of consistently delivering benefit targets.
  • Able to analyse and interpret spend data and undertake market analysis.
  • Specialist Knowledge of Public Procurement Regulations and sound knowledge of contract law.
