Job summary

We are looking to recruit a part-time Administrator to work in the Ambulatory Assessment Unit, Acute Medicine and Rehabilitation Directorate at the John Radcliffe. We are seeking an individual who is proactive and committed to work as part of a team and on their own.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast moving, forever changing working environment where doctors, nurses and administration staff work closely together to provide excellent care for patients in an ambulatory setting. The role of the Administrator is to assist with the day to day running of the unit, supporting their clinical colleagues in the Ambulatory Assessment Unit at the John Radcliffe.

This is a great opportunity for someone wishing to expand their administration skills, you must have a "can do" attitude, and be able to prioritise your workload, full training and support to develop will be given.

The successful candidate must be flexible as we are looking for an administrator who can work a varied shift pattern which may include working evening and weekend shifts.

Main duties of the job

The Acute Medicine and Rehabilitation Directorate are looking to recruit a part time administrator to work in the Ambulatory Assessment Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The post is for 31 hours per week part time and may involve working evenings and/or a weekend day.

The role of the administrator is to assist with the day to day admin tasks supporting their clinical colleagues, patients and visitors to the unit.

This is a great opportunity for someone wishing to develop their administration skills within a hospital setting. Full training and support will be giving enabling the successful candidate to become a valued member of the administration team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as a first point of contact for patients, relatives and visiting staff, welcoming them to the ward/office and dealing with any queries regarding admission, discharge, visiting times, accommodation, insurance, parking.

Answering the telephone in a professional and welcoming manner, responding to enquiries where possible and escalating appropriate enquiries to the nursing or medical teams.

Completing the necessary documentation for the admitting and discharging of patient using the patient administration system (Cerner Millennium)

Record and maintain information on the patient administration system (Cerner Millennium), ensuring that all recorded data is in adherence with the Data Protection Act.

Booking appointment for outpatient clinics, printing out clinic lists for the medical staff overseeing the clinic.

Assist the Unit and Ward staff with arranging discharges such as coordinating patient transport and TTOs as appropriate.

Maintaining an organised and up to date filing system of notes and records, for both paper and electronic documentation.

Photocopying, scanning and moving of patient notes onto EPR using Scan IT
