Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and well-motivated respiratory physiotherapist with a special interest in Cystic Fibrosis and non- CF bronchiectasis to work alongside an established, experienced and supportive physiotherapy team as part of a multi-disciplinary service, based in Oxford.
Oxford Adult Regional CF Centre is a tertiary referral centre covering five counties and includes a non-CF bronchiectasis Service. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a specialist clinical area, working alongside band 6 and 7 physiotherapists, whilst maintaining a complex clinical case load. You will gain experience in a variety of settings including inpatients, outpatients, virtual and face to face clinics and the community. It is an advantage to have an interest in exercise and musculoskeletal management of chronic respiratory conditions. There is a strong emphasis on multi-professional working within the specialist team and across the boundaries into the community. You will also share responsibility for the development of junior staff with support from the Lead Physiotherapist.
As an effective team player you must have proven clinical experience in the core respiratory clinical areas including experience in chronic respiratory medicine. You will be actively encouraged to participate in CPD, service developments, audit and research.

Main duties of the job
- Performs a specialist assessment of patients including those with highly complex presentations, and from this formulates a diagnosis and treatment plan, which is carried out as an autonomous practitioner. This will be in both acute and out-patient settings.
- Assists in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of rotational and junior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants and physiotherapy students.
- Assists the team leader (Lead Specialist Physiotherapist) in the operational management and overall development of designated team, and deputises as required.
- Participates in quality improvement projects and assists in the implementation of changes within the services and associated wards and the setting and monitoring of standards of practice.

- To provide domiciliary care working as a lone practitioner using expert skills in assessment, diagnosis and provision of expert treatment in a non hospital setting, often to very unwell or patients with end stage disease.
- To participate in Joint Assessment Clinics with Consultant medical staff to establish best treatment plans for highly complex patients.
- With support to sensitively deal with distressing or emotional circumstances regarding patient care e.g. imparting news of poor prognoses, management/treatment of the patient in the terminal stages of the disease.
Management
- To assist the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in ensuring that quality standards and effectiveness of patient care and continually improved.
- To deputise for the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in the day-to-day operational management of the service.
- To assist the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist ensure competent use, repair and maintenance reporting of all electrotherapy equipment, gym equipment and patient appliances and that designated staff attain competency prior to use.
- To comply with all Trust policies and procedures and Health and Safety at Work Act, including adherence to Universal Precautions and Infection Control measures.
- To attend mandatory fire, manual handling and resuscitation training on an annual basis and be familiar with local procedures within speciality areas of work, and ensure that staff within the team are aware of their responsibilities.
