Job summary
The Dietetic Department are recruiting a Band 7 Specialist Dietitian to deliver a clinical dietetic service to the Acute Medicine and Rehabilitation Directorate of Oxford University Hospitals Trust. This directorate delivers care to patients across Complex Medicine, Stroke, Neurorehabilitation, Emergency Departments and Ambulatory Care on three hospital sites - the John Radcliffe and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, and the Horton General Hospital, Banbury.
The successful candidate will deliver specialist dietetics care to the complex medicine and stroke units with the support of their team. They will also lead the team of 6 dietitians and 4 Dietetic Assistants. The team delivers clinical care to a range of inpatient wards as well as a general outpatient service. We will be looking to this person to support the continued development of our Band 5s, during their rotations, and the Dietetic Assistants.
Main duties of the job
To have responsibility for providing a clinical dietetic service to patients of the Oxford University Hospitals Trust (OUH), including sole responsibility for highly specialised clinical areas.
To provide a high quality and comprehensive Dietetic Service to the Complex Medical Unit wards, the acute stroke unit and to General Outpatient clinics, with the assistance of Band 5 Dietitians and Dietetic Assistants.
As the Team Lead you will have responsibility for leading, supervising and supporting a team of dietitians providing a dietetic service to the JR, Horton and NOC Hospitals. To initiate and lead discussion on organisational, professional and clinical issues relevant to the team.
Along with the Service Manager, to be responsible for the dietetic service provided to their clinical area and its development.
Working as an integral member of the MDT to provide a flexible, prioritised service based on clinical need. To act as a source of expertise for local dietetic colleagues and nationally regarding the nutritional management of these patient groups.
To educate, train and disseminate information to healthcare professionals including clinicians, nurses, AHPs, dietetic colleagues and students in all aspects of nutrition and dietetics but particularly related to the care of patients in the identified clinical area.
Along with the Service manager, to work closely with the other Dietetic Team Leads to support the running and development of the whole Department.
