Job summary
We are looking for a candidate with a BSc (Hons) degree in Optometry with ideally at least 1 year post qualification experience. Previous clinical research or hospital experience is an advantage but not essential. Full training will be given.
Working closely with the ERGO team, other Research Optometrists, and Ophthalmologists . Some liaison with the Optometry Department of The Oxford Eye Hospital in order to deliver a comprehensive range of core optometric services to the highest standards of quality and care.
Main duties of the job
Clinical trials involving an innovative RNA research programme for patients with USH2a, Geographic Atrophy studies and cataract research programmes are being carried out. The role would be to perform optometric tests including refractions, advanced field mapping using both advance fundus tracked perimetry and full field perimetry, in depth colour vision testing and other innovative tests on these clinical trial patients.

- Routine and complex refractions.
- Visual field assessment including microperimetry and full field perimetry and other psychophysical assessments of visual function.
- Colour vision assessment.
- Liaison with other professionals to provide your professional input on optometric study procedures.
- To undergo study specific training and liaise with reading centres regarding the uploading of optometric data.
- Work closely with research nurses and Ophthalmologists to communicate patient examination results
- To prioritise own activity to meet immediate demands, performing under pressure with unpredictable interruptions
