Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse to join our dedicated Renal Dialysis Units within the Division of Medicine at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) as we continue to expand our dialysis provision.

Working with a dynamic, busy, and friendly team across both Derby and Burton sites, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality care.

The ideal candidate must have expert clinical knowledge of acute and chronic dialysis, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling successful engagement with patients, colleagues, and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will demonstrate clear decision-making capabilities, act as a vocal advocate for patients, and show passion, leadership, and dedication in ensuring the continued delivery of exceptional care.

This role requires flexibility and the ability to travel between our sites as part of the service. If you are eager to make a meaningful impact in renal care and thrive as part of a progressive team, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong and effective leadership skills, and an ability to manage a diverse workforce to maintain the high standards set, whilst meeting the key performance indicators within the constraints of policy, guidelines, and budget.

The candidate should demonstrate excellent advanced communication skills, be dynamic and strive for excellence in all aspects of the role.

The candidate will need to demonstrate that they are supportive and are able to manage the daily challenges of being a Unit Manager. They will need to act as a role model and maintain and uphold high standards of professional behaviour.

You will work with the unit team but also with our wider Renal Pathway and MDT colleagues, care teams and colleagues in professional development as well as other teams across the Trust to provide excellent care for our patients.
