Job summary

This is an opportunity for a full time substantive post in the Breast Team as a Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon. This post will be working across UHDB in the Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton. The post holder must have experience in oncoplastic breast surgery.

Main duties of the job

Provision of a Breast Surgical service to the population of Burton and South Derbyshire, including parts ofSouth Staffordshire and North West Leicestershire.

Responsibility for the continuing care and treatment of patients in your charge and personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan, allowing for all proper delegation to and teaching of trainee staff.

Cover for consultant colleagues annual leave and other authorised absence, including care of patients and supervision of trainee doctors (a minimum of 6 weeks' notice must be given for all leave requests).

Responsibility for the professional supervision, training, and management of trainee medical staff, carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to postgraduate and continuing medical education activity locally and nationally as appropriate.

Participation in medical audit under local arrangements, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes and in CPD.

Involvement in research and supervision of trainees in audit / research.

Where it is agreed between the parties, work on behalf of the Trust such as domiciliary consultations, or services provided by the Trust for other agencies, e.g. the prison service.

Participation in Medical Student Teaching Programmes and Examinations.

  • Possession of FRCS
  • GMC registration and licence to practice at time of application
  • Eligible for entry onto GMC specialist register within 6 months of Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST)
  • Eligible to reside and work in the UK

  • Completion of Oncoplastic Fellowship
  • Further postgraduate qualification relevant to breast surgery
