University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust

Specialist Dietitian

The closing date is 24 June 2025

Job summary

We are looking for individuals who are committed to working within our dietetic services at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. The posts available will provide specialist care within our Community, Home Enteral Feeding, Stroke Rehabilitation and Bariatric services. The specific mix of these areas will be determined and offered based on candidate skills and preferences, and the roles will be based at our Derby sites - Royal Derby Hospital and Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.

We are a socially inclusive department, committed to empowering staff, with a key emphasis on wellbeing and positive team culture.

Main duties of the job

Our community and home enteral feeding dietetic services offer high quality care to adult patients with a range of clinical conditions. We support care predominantly in the outpatient setting but also cover an element of inpatient work, within rehabilitation environments where a seamless transition, particularly for enterally fed patients is vital. We offer support to GP's and care homes and have close working relationships with many other healthcare professionals. We also offer home visits for our most vulnerable patients.

Our bariatric dietetic service provides the dietetic management of patients with morbid obesity referred for weight management and Bariatric surgery. We work interactively as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team within a specialist Bariatric unit. The role will require you to provide nutritional counselling and support to patients in preparation for and following bariatric surgical procedures such as Sleeve gastrectomy, Roux en Y gastric bypass and one anastomosis gastric bypass.

The UHDB Dietetic team strongly encourages research and audit, and there will be opportunities to participate in both this and service development. There are also many opportunities for personal progression available, including leadership training.

We have an established training programme for student dietitians and apprenticeships with Coventry, Nottingham and Sheffield universities.

Closing date of applications: 24 June 2025

Interview date: 8 July 2025
