Job summary

This is an exciting post within a busy ward department at Queens Hospital Burton. The ward provides care to Elective Orthopaedic patients having Joint replacement surgery's. University Hospitals of Derby and Burton(UHDB) being one of the largest Orthopaedic providers in the country.

This is a forward thinking ward with excellent nursing representation and is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to coordinate a team of enthusiastic, highly skilled nursing individuals. The successful candidate will need to lead the ward by example whilst dealing quickly and efficiently with any issues that arise.

This is a rare opportunity to lead such a specialised area and the right candidate will continue to lead the ward forward into the future.

Expert knowledge of caring for Orthopaedic patients is a must and a good knowledge in the elective pathway The ideal candidate should have experience in working or worked in trauma and orthopaedics as a Band 6.

Main duties of the job

  • Overall management of the nursing team within the department including absence, performance management and dealing with any HR issues
  • Budget management
  • Rostering
  • Staff development and education
  • Service Improvement
  • Provide Tissue Viability expertise
  • Networking with other members of the Orthopaedic Team to enhance patient pathways throughout the Business Unit
  • Provide leadership and knowledge
  • To acknowledge and learn from patient feedback and improve experience
