Job summary

We are seeking a motivated Band 5 Biomedical Scientist or those about to obtain there HCPC registration in the next 3-4 months (this is not a trainee post) to join our Microbiology Department. We are part of a modern laboratory within the newly formed Derbyshire Pathology joint venture for Derby and Chesterfield laboratories which are both accredited to ISO 15189.

The department performs bacteriology, parasitology, serology, molecular testing and operates an extended working day.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the day to day sample processing and analytical clinical investigations for Microbiology to the agreed standard of timeliness and quality. Supervise MLAs within their work area.

To engage in training of staff. To fully participate in on-call and weekend duties. Familiarisation and understanding of ISO 15189 standards, Health & Safety requirements; audit and training/education techniques is essential.

Experience of utilising transformation methodologies to drive change and improve service delivery is also desirable. Proactive individuals, with drive and dedication will excel in this post.
