Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Fellow within Acute Medicine to join our friendly, enthusiastic Emergency Department team at UHDB, based at the RDH site.
This post is a fixed-term, 12 month post and are an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a teaching post. Any candidate who wishes to work less than full time will be considered and supported, taking into account service needs.
Main duties of the job
- Maintaining the highest clinical standards in the management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Expected to prioritise and time-manage effectively according to the activity of the department and to utilise appropriately the available senior staff for advice.
- Participation in the 24 hour Emergency Department rota.
- Encouraged to complete work based place assessments for their own development.
- Participation in ED specific teaching, training and support depending on career aspirations.
- Taking the role of Team Leader in the management of patients with major injury or illness within the department.
- Supervision of Junior Medical Staff and Emergency Nurse Practitioners including clinical work, time keeping and documentation.
- Teaching of Junior Medical Staff, Medical Students and Emergency Nurse Practitioners in the clinical setting.
- Assist to maintain the flow of patients through the department.
- Be responsible for the management of the Emergency inpatients (Ward 101).
- Undertake other responsibilities by mutual agreement with the Consultants as part of continuing professional development and clinical governance.
- Opportunity to participate in Audit.
- Designated Educational Supervisor for the duration of the post.
