Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and innovative individual to join our friendly Tissue Viability team. We are a nurse lead service who cover 2 main acute sites, and 3 community hospitals. UHDB is one of the largest Trusts in the East Midlands and provides care to patients in both Derbyshire and Staffordshire. UHDB provides a variety of services, and the Tissue Viability team is responsible for the safe and effective delivery of pressure ulcer prevention and wound management across all the sites. The post holder will work with the Lead Nurse, and the Clinical Lead for Tissue Viability, to deliver on the Trust priorities, and to provide expert advice for complex wound management and pressure ulcer prevention across the Trust. This will include pathway development and dissemination of education programmes regarding pressure ulcer prevention and wound management working alongside other teams to ensure cohesive working for excellent patient care.
The service comprises a Lead Nurse, a Clinical Lead specialist and 5 whole time equivalent band 6's and a Support worker. As a member of the team the post holder will work across all sites and must be able to travel independently to and from these sites, it is therefore essential that the post holder is able to drive and has their own transport.
Main duties of the job
- Work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the assessment, primary and/or secondary diagnosis, management and evaluation of treatment and/or care for patients with complex wounds.
- Support the Lead Nurse and Clinical Lead for Tissue Viability in the delivery of the Tissue Viability Trust's strategic aims and objectives.
- Assist in developing and implementing Pressure Ulcer Prevention Policies and Guidelines.
- Provide direction and support for clinical staff and managers regarding all aspects of tissue viability.
- Develop and deliver specialist training across UHDB in line with the Trust's needs.
- Offer support, advice, and education to various staff disciplines, patients, and significant others in wound care management.
- Promote professionalism both within UHDB and externally.
- Collaborate with Lead nurses for Tissue Viability to foster a culture of learning from incidents and lead improvements, reporting to the Clinical Lead.
