Job summary

The Chesterfield site of Derbyshire Pathology are inviting applications from candidates who are enthusiastic, committed individuals to join our team within the Blood Sciences Department as full time, permanent Band 4 Associate Practitioners. The successful candidate will work in all areas of blood sciences including blood transfusion and POCT.

We have full UKAS ISO15189:2022 accreditation and we are also accredited with the IBMS as a training laboratory.

We are inviting applications from candidates who are highly motivated and proactive to join a friendly and well-motivated team. You must be adaptable and have the ability to work within a vibrant and professional team on a 24/7 shift rota, coping with the daily pressures of a busy and frequently changing environment. Main duties of the job

Our modern laboratories are well equipped with a Sysmex XN9000 line and CS5100 analysers in Haematology & Coagulation; Roche Cobas 8000 analysers and an 8100 pre analytics module in Biochemistry. Biorad IH1000's and Blood360 blood tracking system in blood transfusion.

POCT equipment includes GEM5000, Freestyle glucose/ketone meters, ID Now and iSTAT Alinity.

Key duties include specimen processing and the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment rotating through all sections of Blood Sciences, including POCT, and Blood Transfusion for which full training will be given.

A flexible approach to working is required as APs participate in a 24/7 shift rota and the successful candidate will be required to participate in this shift system once trained and competent.

We welcome applications from enthusiastic, committed individuals who are looking to take on a new challenge, with a foundation degree level or equivalent in science and good I.T. skills. Demonstrable previous paid pathology laboratory experience is essential, preferably within Blood Sciences.
