Job summary

DPH is offers a varied and interesting place to work, you will have an opportunity to work across both our 11 bedded ward plus our varied and busy outpatient clinic area.
You will be caring for a wide range of patients from varied specialities.
The right person will be caring and polite with an enthusiasm for learning and taking on new experiences, in return we will offer you training and exposure to a varied and exciting way of working.
The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week, You will be working closely with our consultants, nursing and administration teams.
You will be assisting in the efficient running of a busy ward and clinic area. You will be assisting the nursing team in the care of pre- and post op patients on the ward area, you may also at times be caring for non-surgical patients. Training in venepuncture will be provided, plus the opportunity to train in cannulation and ECG. We also operate a minor treatment room and if required you will be trained to assist consultants with procedures.
Applicants must bring their Care Qualification Certificate or NVQ Certification with them on the day of their interview. We will not accept an online care certificate
Applicants will also undertake a literacy and numeracy assessment on the day of their interview.
Main duties of the job
The Royal Derby Hospital has a purpose built dedicated Private Patient Unit comprising of a ward, Outpatients Department and minor procedures room. The unit operates 7 days a week and cares for predominantly but not exclusively surgical patients in the Inpatient Ward and a wide variety of clinical case mix in the outpatient area.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person who will support the clinical team being:
- passionate about putting the patient first and making a real difference to theirexperience.- have good communication and organisational skills.- having high standards of personal care provision to the patient.- committed to maintaining patient safety, privacy and dignity.
The ability to work as part of a team and adapt to a changing workload is essential as a highdegree of flexibility is a key aspect of this post.
You will be required to work a combination of day and night shifts, over a seven day rota.
You must have significant previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a ward and or outpatient setting.
**This post is annualised hours post-you will receive your full pay guaranteed every month- irrelevant of the actual number of hours worked as these will be worked flexibly throughout the year**
