Job summary

We have an exciting new post as a Band 6 senior Physiotherapist to rotate within acute medicine as part of the specialist medicine therapy team.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a high standard physiotherapy service as part of the acute medicine rotation.

This post will involve working across specialist medicine wards including renal medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hepatology and general medicine. This will include working on our high dependency units on medicine and respiratory wards as required. This post will receive direct support from a band 7 Physiotherapist.

Main duties of the job

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme for patients.

To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for patients presenting with medical and respiratory conditions.

To liaise with other physiotherapy colleagues to provide a prioritised service during pressured times, cross cover across all wards dependent on workload and staffing.

Lead, support and provide guidance, clinical education and training to band 5 and assistant members of staff within the team, assessing and evaluating competence and contributing to performance assessment and appraisal.

Supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students.

To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide advice and deliver a holistic patient centred approach to care in line with current national guidance.

To support the band 7 Physiotherapists in specialist medicine to develop and evaluate the service provided to the acute medicine wards and make any necessary changes.

Assist and support therapy leads within the service in the improvement and transformation of therapy.

Maintain competence to actively participate in the provision of the 24-hour emergency on call respiratory physiotherapy service.
