Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby & Burton are seeking to recruit a Specialist Grade Oncologist, who together with the team of Consultant Oncologists will provide a comprehensive service for the people of Southern Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

The posts are based at the Royal Derby Hospital with work at Queens Hospital Burton which provide Cancer Services for the population of Southern Derbyshire and South East Staffordshire.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be responsible for:

  • Provision of a comprehensive service in Oncology with consultantcolleagues, including new patient and follow-up clinics at Derby andBurton. The Department also undertakes a variety of joint clinics with other specialties.
  • Provision of emergency cover and reciprocal cover for your consultant colleagues during reasonable periods of leave, on a shared basis. This will include care of patients and supervision of junior doctors.
  • The care of patients in their charge and for the proper functioning of the Department
  • Undertaking teaching/training duties as required and activelyparticipating in the postgraduate and undergraduate teaching programmes
  • Participating in clinical and medical audit and actively contributing in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance
  • Actively participating in continuing medical education (CME)
