Job summary

Ward 405 is a medical ward caring for patients over the age of 65. It has 31 acute beds.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurses who are looking for the next step in their career as a Sister / Charge Nurse.

We are looking for an individual who has a passion to provide high standards of person centred care to our patients. We will support you with training opportunities to broaden your skill set and welcome you to become part of an upbeat, dynamic team bringing energy and a strong focus on multidisciplinary team work in supporting our patients.

We work closely with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Doctors, Pharmacy and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, and seek to involve patients, as well as their relatives, in their care as much as possible. We are looking for an individual with strong leadership qualities to advocate for the patients on our ward and maintain high standards.

Main duties of the job

To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team by using professional judgement and assuming responsibility and accountability for assessing, implementing and evaluating clinical care for patients to meet their needs in a safe caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy and respect.

The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the chosen speciality and lead in supporting the Senior Sister to implement change and will assist in the management and organisation of staff and nursing work in the ward/department within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

The post holder will supervise the working of Registered Nurses, Healthcare assistants and support workers and support the training and assessment of staff, whilst demonstrating the trust Values and Behaviours for nursing and midwifery staff at all times.

The post holder has a duty of care to patients and is expected to comply fully with best practice standards and comply with trust policies for personal and patient safety and the prevention of healthcare associated infections.
