Job summary
A vacancy has arisen within the Respiratory, Sleep and Ventilation Physiology Team at UHDB(University Hospitals of Derby and Burton), for a permanent Band 7 Clinical Physiologist position working hours from 30 up to 37.5 hours would be considered. This position entails leading the Queens Hospital site in respiratory and training of new physiologists whilst overseeing the community diagnostic centre due to open at Sir Robert Peel Hospital.
You must have extensive experience in respiratory physiology investigations, sleep diagnostics and treatment. You must be competent in reporting lung function tests and overnight sleep studies, and have the experience to oversee other physiologists reports. Experience in specialist NIV treatment is desirable for this role, however training can be provided
This post can be a development role considered for the right candidate.
The job will be based at Queens Hospital Burton but involve cross site working at Sir Robert Peel Hospital and other UHDB sites as necessary.
Main duties of the job
- Be the lead physiologist for Queens Hospital Burton site, developing and transforming the services in collaboration with a team of physiologists. This includes managing waiting lists, staff training and ensuring an efficient and quality service is delivered.
- Perform sleep study investigations and CPAP/NIV treatment.
- Report one's own results and oversee more junior staffs' reports.
- Perform audit within own area of responsibility.
- Participate in Sleep and NIV MDT where appropriate.
- Perform and report a range of lung function tests.
- Participate in training of other staff in collaboration with the wider respiratory team.
- On a day-to-day basis help to operationally manage Respiratory, Sleep and Ventilation services by managing waiting lists and triaging requests. Allocation of staff work within rota availability.
- Experience in specialist NIV treatment is highly desirable for this role
