Job summary

To provide specialist advice to the Divisions on the "2016 Contract for Doctors and Dentists in Training" and Working time Regulations (WTR) criteria and compliance as applied to doctors in training employment contracts and practical support on the modelling of new/revised shift patterns and designing of rotas.

To manage the doctors' in training exception reporting process, including the monitoring and analysis of data and provision of regular reports and advice to Divisions and other committees as required and Health Education England.

To provide a comprehensive medical workforce advisory service to clinical and non-clinical managers and their teams regarding Doctors in Training Terms and Conditions of Service and to support the Medical Director's Office in the implementation of specific medical workforce projects to enable the Trust to meet the challenges of the national workforce agenda.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage and develop the Trust Exception Reporting process for doctors in training to support the achievement of National and Trust targets
  • Provide expert advice to Divisional Managers and Consultants on the 2016 Doctors and Dentists in Training working hours and rest requirements
  • Model 2016 Contract compliant rotas on a web based rota management system
  • Responsible for ensuring that national Terms & Conditions for Medical & Dental staff are adhered to when implementing new working patterns for Doctors in Training
  • Preparation and presentation of reports up to and including at Board level within the Trust and to external bodies as required
  • Represent the Trust as required at local and national level in respect of rota management and compliance issues for doctors in training
  • Advise and support Divisions in the interpretation and application of doctors in training terms and conditions with regards to working time regulations and provide advice on 2016 Doctors and Dentists in Training Contract and working time regulations to doctors in training and assist in negotiations with Divisions regarding changes to rotas and working patterns.
  • Responsible for managing applications for Less than Full Time Training (LTFT) applications from doctors in training to the Trust including liaising with Health Education England and Divisions
