Main duties of the job
- Provision of junior support to the Renal services
- To provide daily care and management of renal, high-dependency and general internal medical patients on respective wards.
- Administrative tasks for these services on the wards.
- Participation in out-patient clinics.
- Active participation in Clinical Governance, audit and research activities.
- Keeping up to date and participating in relevant Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Participation in annual appraisals.

We are very pleased to be appointing a Senior Clinical Fellow (SCF) to work in Renal and High-dependency Medicine. This is a full-time, fixed-term service appointment for 12 months although applications for less than full-time working patterns (LTFT) are welcome.
Based at Royal Derby Hospital the appointees will undertake duties for the Renal Unit within the Medical Services Division.
You will work 8 hours on duty Monday to Friday, rostered between 0900hrs and 1700hrs, plus OOH. As part of a ward multi-disciplinary team, the Senior Clinical Fellow will review patients daily and support consultant ward rounds to enable efficient senior decision-making and effective management of patients on their respective wards.
In addition, there are daily board rounds with the opportunity to discuss the management of the ward patients with a senior clinician. The post holder will be attached to the renal team which also has responsibility for medical high-dependency patients. You will also have regular out-patient clinics with full consultant supervision. You will be expected to work as middle-grade doctors, seeing speciality referrals and leading your junior team with full consultant support.
Numerous training opportunities are available within the team and you will be actively encouraged to access these options throughout your 12 months.

- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice at time of application
- Minimum of 6 months working in NHS Hospitals within the past 2 years in a medical specialty
- A minimum 4 years post qualification medical experience in the UK or abroad including experience in Acute Medicine/ Medical specialities

- Previous renal or high-dependency or intensive care experience
