MATRON - Therapies and Specialist Rehab Business Unit (TSR BU)

MATERNITY LEAVE COVER

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a matron within the Division of Cancer, Diagnostics and Clinical Support. The successful applicant will be an experienced registered nurse with a positive leadership style.

You will be working with a dynamic and friendly team within Therapy and Specialist Rehabilitation Medicine, which includes Ward 3 - Kings Lodge - neuro rehab unit; Ward 5; Specialist Rehab outpatients; Rehab nurse specialist and Major Trauma Rehabilitation Sister. You will build collaborative MDT working relationships to ensure a holistic service is provided to our patients and their families. There maybe professional leadership for other nurses outside of the TSR BU and as a Senior Nurse with consistent presence on FNCH site, your professional advice, leadership and support may be called upon to support site-wide issues.

The role will be predominantly based at FNCH, but work at the RDH site will be necessary at times, therefore ability to travel is required.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can successfully engage with patients and staff; have clear decision making capabilities; be a vocal advocate for the patient and be passionate and highly motivated in ensuring high quality care continues to be delivered.

Main duties of the job

Supervising the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care across the sphere of responsibility, ensuring that nursing and corporate standards are implemented, maintained, monitored and improved upon where necessary.

Ensure that nursing and relevant support staff are led, managed and developed in order to enable them to deliver the highest standards of patient care and service.

Provide a highly visible, accessible and authoritative presence in area of responsibility. and be available to patients, their families and staff to provide assistance, advice and support and address problems and concerns, as required.

Act a professional role model to all nurses and take corrective action to uphold the standards required of the Trust and profession. This may include participating in service-specific shift arrangements to provide professional advice and leadership during evenings (including nights in extreme circumstances), weekends and bank holidays. Includes participating in Senior Nurse rota.

Will be required to act up in professional or managerial capacity as required and appropriate.
