Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Paediatrician with Neonatal interest to join our flexible team and compliment the range of services provided.
This is a full time substantive appointment for University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Trust based at Derbyshire Children's at Royal Derby Hospital, although other services are provided across all the Trust sites including the Queens Hospital Burton site and peripheral clinics at Ilkeston, Lichfield and Tamworth. This means there may be circumstances which require cross site working.
Main duties of the job
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of a Neonatology/ General Paediatric Service
To share with colleagues' responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Neonatal Service
Teaching & training of junior staff, medical students
To actively participate in both departmental & Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance & audit.
To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

There is a 1 in 8 on-call commitment for Neonates including weekends (1 PA) for providing an out-of-hours emergency service, on a shared basis with other Consultants within the Department . The successful candidate must reside within 30 minutes traveling time of the hospital when on-call.
The appointee is expected to participate in teaching & training of junior staff, medical students & trainees all aspects of paediatrics, & to supervise junior medical staff within the specialty. All Consultant staff are encouraged to undertake a formal Training the Trainers course.

- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice at time of application
- Full Membership of RCPCH
- Have CCT or within 6 months of attaining CCT at time of interview or entry onto GMC Specialist Register by the time of the interview.

- Training in Child Protection/ Safeguarding (Level 3)
