Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for experienced and enthusiastic Principal Clinical Psychologists to share a senior role in leading on key chronic health streams within the Paediatric Psychology service at Derby. These include Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis and Epilepsy and other chronic health conditions with General Paediatrics.
The successful applicants will have previous experience of supporting children and young people with chronic health conditions and ideally experience of working within a Paediatric Diabetes and/or Cystic Fibrosis service. This post is primarily suited to those seeking a job share position with flexibility on how the hours are shared between staff members.
The post is based at Royal Derby Hospital where you will be providing psychological assessment and intervention to patients. As a valued member of the Diabetes MDT, you will provide consultation, advice and training to non-psychologist colleagues. There are also new exciting opportunities to develop creative and innovative approaches to support young people living with Diabetes. The Cystic Fibrosis service is also well established, with Clinical Psychology taking a key role in supporting patients in and outside of clinics.
You will also be warmly welcomed within a highly supportive and friendly Paediatric Psychology team, with access to supervision, reflective space and opportunities to continue learning and growing.
Main duties of the job
- Provide psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for children/young people and families living with chronic health conditions outside of clinics
- Attend regular MDT meetings and provide teaching sessions to the MDT
- Provide psychological assessment and ad hoc intervention for children and families attending clinics
- Conduct annual psychological assessments with patients within/outside of clinics
- Provide advice and support to other members of the MDT regarding patients, e.g. reflective discussions, explore formulations
- Maintain regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) including education and network attendance
- Provide supervision to other Clinical Psychology team members (both qualified and in training)
Lead the provision and development of the psychological service into the diabetes and Cystic Fibrosis teams:
- Oversee and manage diabetes and Cystic Fibrosis referrals
- Ensure psychology best practice annual targets are met
- Attend Senior team and Strategy meetings
- Maintain good practice, including outcome measurement and annual reports where required
