Job summary

We have a new and exciting opportunity available for a highly experienced dietitian or nutritionist to become the lead Food Service Dietitian/Nutritionist for University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. As a highly motivated individual, with experience in service development, you will be the dietetic departmental lead for implementing the National Standards for Healthcare Food and Drink. You will work within a wide MDT, and will be the key contact for patient associated issues with menus, allergens, ordering, nutritional quality and provision. Additionally, you will be available for consultation on the provision of meals for staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will base themselves both within facilities and the dietetic department. Much of the role will promote service improvement through audit, research and reviews of current process and pathways. You will work closely with our catering service providers at the UHDB and their lead dietitians.

The post holder will be expected to participate in student training, wider dietetic department projects and engage with relevant stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be instrumental in developing and promoting the role of the Food Service dietitian/Nutritionist within the Trust. Structured liaison with facilities and other invested HCP's (SLT, nurses, medics, dietitians) will be crucial to ensure the recognised standards are met within the Trust. The post holder will lead on the management of the Food and Drink Strategy, and act as a source of expertise for all queries associated with meal and menu provision.

A key part of the role will be leading on menu review, nutritional analysis, allergen identification and coding of menus. The post holder will have clear communication links with inpatient dietitians to ensure specialist menus can be provided when required (including texture modified, allergen specific and therapeutic diets).

Additionally, developing and running audit and satisfaction surveys will be key tools that will influence improvements at UHDB.
