Job summary
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) is looking to recruit a talented and experienced individual to provide strategic leadership for our extensive pharmacy services. With a track record in developing Deputies to Chief Pharmacist level you will be supported to grow as a leader and manager. Your development will be supported by a close working relationship with the Chief Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Leadership Team and Divisional management Team.
This role will provide the key link between UHDB and Commissioners with a focus on ensuring the safe and effective supply of high cost drugs to our patients. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with both system and regional colleagues in your role. This role also will lead digital and IT developments within Pharmacy. This is a particularly exciting time at UHDB as we prepare to transition to a new EPR system across the acute providers in Derbyshire. This post will be key to ensuring the safe transition to the new system and to maximise the benefits of this change.
Main duties of the job
- As a member of the Pharmacy Business Unit Leadership Team, support the Chief Pharmacist to develop, deliver, manage and lead the pharmacy service, reporting to the Divisional Management Team.
- Provide leadership and support to the commissioning of 'tariff excluded medicines' from NHSE and the ICB to optimise effectiveness and ensure best value.
- Act as a member of the Joint Area Prescribing Committee, Trust Drugs and Therapeutics Group and D&T finance sub group.
- Develop and deliver cost improvement and transformation plans to ensure optimal cost effectiveness for Pharmacy and the Trust wide Medicines Optimisation work stream, including biosimilar switching.
- Provide leadership and support the delivery of high quality pharmacy services supplied through Homecare.
- Provide leadership and supports the development, implementation and maintenance of electronic prescribing and administration systems across the Trust.
