Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Registered Nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work in the Asthma Service at Royal Derby Hospital. You will be expected to provide high standards of care to both inpatients and those attending outpatient clinics.
As part of your role you will need to effectively engage with clinical staff, peer groups and service users, leading by example, to provide a high level of service.
The successful candidate would be required to work 37.5 hrs per week.
Demonstrable post registration experience is essential and experience in asthma is desirable. A current asthma qualification will be advantageous.
The candidate should have experience in respiratory and good knowledge, skills on how to deliver and manage care patients with asthma. Asthma experience is essential.
You must be able to prioritise tasks, manage your time effectively and be confident in completing individual tasks. You will be expected to make clinical decisions regarding patient treatment, with the support of your line manager and consultant.
You will be expected to support the virtual ward.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to carry out ward reviews of patients admitted to Royal Derby Hospital. You will be required to do a full review including inhaler technique, trigger avoidance ad complete a personalised asthma management plan. You will be required to complete the asthma discharge bundle as per the British Thoracic Society recommendations. Further follow up as per the hospital ward discharge clinic will be required as will involvement in asthma nurse led and consultant clinics. You will also be required to offer patients telephone advice regarding their ongoing asthma care.
