Job summary

The Derby Lymphoedema Service is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic new team member. The Service covers Derby Hospitals, Kings Mill Hospital and Nottingham Hospitals (this clinic is based at Long Eaton Health Centre)The Lymphoedema Service is multidisciplinary and the new team member can be a Registered Nurse, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. Each of our three teams currently consists of a band 7 Team Leader/Clinical Specialist Nurse, band 6 Clinical Specialist Nurses/Therapists, Support Workers and administrators.

"The Specialist Derby Lymphoedema Service holds clinics in three locations, Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, Derby; Long Eaton Health Centre, Nottingham; and Kings Mill Hospital, Mansfield. The post holder will work primarily between Florence Nightingale Community Hospital and Long Eaton Health Centre. However, cross site cover may be required."

Currently all three of the clinics is open Monday to Friday with varying daytime working hours.The Service offers outpatient treatments to adults and children with varying causes of oedema, including primary and secondary lymphoedema, lymphovenous oedema and lipoedema.

Previous experience in treating chronic oedema is preferred but not essential. A good understanding of compression hosiery, indications of use and the ability to apply both short stretch and long stretch compression bandaging is also advantageous.

Main duties of the job

The Lymphoedema Clinical Specialist supports new and existing patients in managing their oedema. You will be part of the multi disciplinary team assessing and diagnosing people who are new to the clinic and formulating treatment plans. You will have your own caseload of patients to support and follow up.

You will part of the team undertaking intensive lymphoedema treatment, providing courses of multi layer lymphoedema bandaging and courses of manual lymphatic drainage.

Work with other Health Care Professionals who are also supporting our patients to enhance patient care.

Attend MDT and specialist clinics undertaken by the team.
