Job summary
The role of the Modern Housekeeper is to provide a housekeeping service to the clinical environment. It is a valuable and rewarding role where you are part of the ward team, working together to ensure high standards.
The Puffin ward is a fast paced, high activity area where patients are admitted for medical, surgical and mental health care. The Modern Housekeeper role is fundamental is ensuring that the environment is the best it can be for the patient and their relative.
Main duties of the job
The main elements of the role are to ensure that there is a seamless approach to the provision of non-clinical services; ensuring the appropriate delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks, to meet individual patients' needs, as determined by the Ward Senior Sister in accordance with NHS National Standards.
- Ensure that personal privacy, dignity and confidentiality relating to all aspects of the Trust's operations is maintained.
- To participate in Patient Satisfaction Surveys as required.
- To provide a focal point for individual patients in relation to their day to day non-clinical needs.
- Liaise with the Service Provider to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment and that all patient food and beverage requirements are met.
- Liaise with the Lead Sister and Service Provider, to ensure that the day's work is planned in the most appropriate way, in order to deliver a high standard of patient facilities services.
- Undertake the cleaning of medical equipment, and other relevant items as identified.
- Ensure thorough cleanliness standards are met throughout the Unit.
