Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a flexible and motivated Registered Nurse to join our team within the Urology Outpatients services. The role involves working within the outpatient clinics assisting the Urologists with their diagnosis by undertaking various Urological procedures. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside the specialist nurses within the department, assisting with many day case procedures and attending focus groups.
The Clinic nurse will be expected to support patients and carers and provide the relevant written patient information. These clinics care for patients with both benign and malignant Urological conditions. Male catheterisation is a requirement of the role and competence in this is an advantage but training will be given to the suitable candidate.
Self and department development is important and the successful candidate must be willing to partake in further development both educationally and clinically, and play an active role in the further development of the department including nurse led clinics. You will be expected to guide junior members of the team and mentor students within the department.
This is a full time position but part time or job share will be considered
Main duties of the job
- Organising and running the consultant urologist outpatient clinics.
- Assisting and chaperoning the Urologist.
- Undertaking the following procedures
- Flow rate studies, bladder scan , TWOC, bloods, catheterisation.
- Providing information to patient and carers.
- Mentoring students and supervising junior staff
- Assisting the CNS's in Day Case procedures within the department
- Taking an active part in further in department development
