University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit a Rehabilitation Medicine Consultant based at the Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, Derby. This post is part replacement and part of a strategy to plan for retirements over the next five years.
We have the flexibility to provide a bespoke job plan that encompasses your academic, teaching or research interests and your work-life balance. The advertised post is fulltime, but part-time or annualised working arrangements can be considered. We are able to offer relocation and incentive packages.
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is a forward thinking, research active and friendly department which covers a wide scope of neurological and amputee rehabilitation across the 1.1 million population of Southern Derbyshire and South & East Staffordshire.
Main duties of the job
There are currently five Rehabilitation Medicine consultants and one Specialty Doctor, alongside SpR and F2 posts, and working with well established multi-disciplinary teams.
The post holder will contribute to the 19 bed Level 2b Rehabilitation Medicine inpatient ward (King's Lodge), inreach to Royal Derby Hospital and outpatient services. This will be on a rotational basis, according to shared decision making amongst colleagues.

As well as general Rehabilitation Medicine and Spasticity clinics, the postholder will have the opportunity to develop their practice in specific areas of outpatient rehabilitation, such as Neuromuscular Rehabilitation, Complex Needs and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
The department plays an active role in medical student teaching. Any applicant interested in education would have the opportunity to develop this further.
There is no on call duty.
