Job summary

We are part of a modern laboratory within the newly formed Derbyshire Pathology joint venture for Derby and Chesterfield labs which are both accredited to ISO 15189.

The department performs bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, serology, molecular testing and operates an extended working day.

Key Requirements of the role:

  • HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist
  • IBMS accredited BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent
  • All internal staff with an appropriate accredited degree and completed registration portfolio
  • Experience of microbiology
  • Flexibility in your approach as there is the requirement to work out of hours and weekends

Main duties of the job

Biomedical Scientist - Microbiology

The newly created Derbyshire Pathology serves both the Royal Derby Hospital Pathology, Burton Hospital (from Sep 2021) and Chesterfield Royal Hospital Pathology Services and is hosted by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation.

You will be working as part of the Derbyshire Pathology Service based in the Microbiology Laboratory across sites.
