Job summary

Applications are invited for the position of Quality Manager - Superintendent Therapeutic Radiographer within UHDB.

The postholder will work across the Multi-professional Clinical Teams to support the integration of Clinical Effectiveness and new developments into Radiotherapy & Oncology Practice

The postholder will provide a focus for Quality Assurance, managing the QACS Quality System - EN ISO 9001:2015 across the Cancer Business Unit (acting as QMR), and also Audit & Research within the Radiotherapy Section of Oncology.

The postholder will take delegated responsibility for Clinical Governance in Radiotherapy - including Health & Safety, Risk and Professional Issues.

To maintain clinical expertise in all general aspects of Radiotherapy practice.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will develop and ensure the provision of an efficient high quality radiotherapy service, leading a designated team both during normal and extended working hours.

The postholder will work with the Principal Superintendents, Senior Radiotherapy Team and the other Advanced Practitioner - Team Leaders to ensure the smooth implementation of new technology.

The postholder will contribute to the development and implementation of Quality Assurance Programmes within the Specialty, ensuring that protocols specific to one's area of responsibility are both in use and regularly reviewed & updated.

The postholder will take a lead in incident management, including review, investigation and the development and monitoring of action plans.

The postholder will ensure that staff and students working in one's area of responsibility are given adequate training, development and guidance to ensure the safe and effective treatment of patients according to the Consultants' prescriptions and Departmental protocols.

The postholder will undertake Clinical Audit and participate in Clinical Trials:

  • assisting in the collection and collation of data necessary to local and national workload, R&D and quality assurance requirements.
  • producing information on workload, quality assurance and training in accordance with the Department's specifications and written protocols.
