Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, innovative and flexible Senior Paediatric Nurse with proven management skills and extended clinical skills to join our team of Paediatric Site Practitioners.

Full Time and Part Time Hours considered.

You will be responsible for patient, staff and site safety within the Children's Hospital whilst helping to effectively manage patient flow between the Children's ED and inpatient wards and also between other hospitals under potentially stressful and challenging conditions.

You will also be required on occasions to effectively assess and identify deteriorating patients using effective and timely escalation to the Medical team.

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent communication and leadership skills and be able to demonstrate substantial post registration experience including extensive relevant Band 6 experience both managerially and clinically in an acute/critical care or ED environment.

Applicants should hold RSCN qualification, relevant Degree level study and ability to study at Masters level. APLS provider essential.

Derbyshire Childrens Hospital has a dedicated Childrens Emergency Department and sees over 34,000 patients a year. Staff within the department cater for all acute trauma and the initial assessment of children and young people from a variety of sources. In-patient wards include: Puffin ward: 16 bed ward caring for medical and surgical patients. Dolphin Ward: 12 bed medical ward . Paediatric Critical Care Unit: 4 High Dependency beds for children 0-17 years. Sunflower Ward: 16 bed planned surgery and medical day case ward for patients 0-17 years.

You will provide a clinically sound paediatric nursing service, demonstrating expert knowledge and clinical skills, as the practitioner responsible for the assessment of paediatric patient needs and utilisation of appropriate resources to meet them in association with the on call Paediatric SpR and SHO as part of the Childrens Hospital team.
