Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Primary Care Knowledge Specialist Librarian to lead on the delivery of a range of activities related to capturing, disseminating, using and sharing knowledge within Derbyshire.

This is a 1 year fixed term post, funded by Health Education England. This exciting role will focus on establishing and embedding an outreach library and knowledge service within the primary care community.

This is a full-time position, but we will consider part-time.

The post requires a library or information science related degree or postgraduate qualification. We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual with effective communication skills, with a positive and persuasive approach to engaging with a range of stakeholders.

The post holder will be accountable to the LKS Manager at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB), but on a day to day basis will report to the Deputy LKS Manager at UHDB and the ICS Level Training Hub Director. This post will be based within the Derbyshire Training Hub, but will be required to work flexibly across the whole of the county, establishing and delivering the service virtually and face to face. The post holder will work closely with all three Derbyshire healthcare libraries, which will in turn provide a strong support and development network.

Main duties of the job

The Primary Care Knowledge Specialist will lead on delivery of a range of activities related to capturing, disseminating, using, and sharing knowledge and supporting internal and external partnerships within the footprint of the Derby and Derbyshire Training Hubs.

Knowledge management (KM) activity may include a range of ongoing and maintenance activities, as well as the delivery of specific projects. Examples include:

  • To lead on the provision and delivery of a comprehensive and high quality library and knowledge service to the staff and students of the multi-professional primary and integrated care workforce within Derbyshire.
  • To develop and deliver specialist training to Derbyshire Healthcare Community on a range of subjects related to own specialist area e.g. evidence retrieval, critical appraisal, research methods and writing for publication.
  • To work closely with and identify opportunities to raise the profile of the three existing Library & Knowledge Services based within Derbyshire to the multi-professional primary and integrated care workforce.
