Due to maternity leave an opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 (fixed term post of 27.5 hours per week for 12 months) to join our friendly and forward thinking team.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will need to have demonstrable experience working at Band 6 level or above. Experience of leadership would be an advantage, however support will be offered. The post holder will hold a Dietetic caseload and be responsibility for the day to day delivery of the Adult Diabetes Service.
We have an established student training programme in which you will participate, and the department encourages innovation, CPD and professional development.

Job responsibilities
Your role as Diabetes Lead Dietitian will be to support the adult diabetes team in delivering excellent care to patients with diabetes in a range of settings. This will include dietitian led clinics, MDT clinics, Insulin pump clinics, DAFNE and specialist clinics, as well as group education for type 1 and type 2 diabetes. You will be based with the Diabetes team at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital in Derby but required to work cross site covering clinics in Burton as well as within the Integrated Diabetes Service which offers specialist care to practices across Derbyshire, therefore the successful post holder will be required to be a car driver. The post will also include education to a range of healthcare professionals. Excellent communication skills are essential.

The diabetes dietitians are part of the wider dietetic service at UHDB which includes the community dietitian team based at London Road Community Hospital and acute teams at Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital in Burton. This gives staff the opportunity to network and learn from dietitians working in a range of specialist areas. The dietetic service delivers student training to A, B and C placement students. We are committed to continuous improvement of the dietetic service and have staff active in research and quality improvement in order to provide the best services to our communities.
