Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a team of full-time Health Improvement Advisor's to join us at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

As part of the development of our staff wellbeing services across Derbyshire, successful candidates will play an integral role in keeping colleagues healthy, safe and well across a network of organisations in the Derbyshire Health and Social Care system.

The team of Health Improvement Advisors will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of wellbeing services, with a specific focus on engaging colleagues in structured physical activity, health interventions, and programmes and initiatives to support the individual needs and priorities of the various organisations, within our system.

Two posts will be primarily based in and around the Derby City region.

Two posts will be primarily based in and around the Chesterfield region.

One further post will primarily support primary care colleagues and be field based.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a wider friendly, multi-professional team within the Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing service at UHDB and in particular your remit will focus on the following activities:

  • Introductory physical activity interventions
  • Healthy eating support
  • Lifestyle and wellbeing screening and signposting
  • Promoting positive mental health and peer support services
  • Targeted health awareness interventions (such as menopause awareness, stop smoking etc.)

You will also work on various wellbeing projects providing advice and guidance to stakeholders, ensuring that the system follows current best practice in health and wellbeing provision for its people.

You will work closely with the Head of Wellbeing and Workforce Health to support internal and external stakeholders to establish support services and referral pathways across Derbyshire.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience of delivering health and well-being services within Health, Leisure, Fitness, Sport or Physical Activity sector with appropriate industry knowledge is essential
  • An ability to motivate, inspire and encourage positive behaviour change is essential
  • Experience of working on GP referral schemes or similar would be advantageous but not essential
  • First Aid experience is desirable
  • You will be expected to work across a number of sites; therefore, travel will be an essential requirement

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Working with colleagues across the Joined Up Care, Derbyshire ICS to elevate awareness and ensure consistency of the wellbeing offer supporting our people
  • Develop a range of wellbeing programme, based on robust insight to meet the needs of our people and to comply with the wider NHS health and wellbeing agenda
  • To design and implement a set of robust Physical Activity interventions against agreed KPIs, with a continual system of monitoring and evaluation to assess the impact on staff health and wellbeing
  • To support the development of the staff musculoskeletal programme, covid-19 rehabilitation and support initiatives, and support rapid access to internal and external services
  • To collaborate and work closely with other services across the respective organisations you are based at (Dietetics/Therapies etc) to develop and implement programmes of activity to support staffHealth and Wellbeing as appropriate, and in line with best practice
  • To design and deliver a range of sessions and workshops to help support the health and wellbeing of Joined Up Care Derbyshire colleagues, including effective marketing and communication plans
