Job summary

An opportunity has become available to join the Lung Cancer Screening Programme at Northumbria Healthcare as a Waiting List and Appointments Coordinator. The Lung Cancer Screening Programme is a is a national scheme that identifies people aged 55-74 at increased risk of lung cancer, to improve detection and subsequently treatment outcomes for patients. The job entails a range of duties to ensure an accurate and efficient waiting list and bookings service is available to the Lung Cancer Screening Programme and to act as a first point of contact for the Programme Team. The post holder will co-ordinate all patient appointments and enquiries using initiative to discern between queries ensuring minimum interruption to the programme or immediate response depending upon appropriate action.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant subject/area of work
  • Educated to GCSE level, with GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above in English or equivalent or relevant experience.
  • Must expect to undergo training to develop an in depth knowledge of all examination protocols, including booking requirements, necessary liaison with other departments, admission procedures and patient instructions.

Experience

Essential

  • Must have experience in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, etc).
  • Knowledge of Confidentiality.

Desirable

  • Experience in an administrative role in a NHS / health care environment or comparable organization
  • Must have a familiarity with Hospital Information Management Systems such as PAS and of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of clinical appointment system/or experience of using an electronic appointments system.
  • Basic Knowledge of IR(ME)Regulations or Health and Safety regulations
