Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Oncology Day Unit based at Wansbeck General Hospital. This is one of 5 day units within Northumbria NHS Foundation Healthcare Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has an interest in the Oncology speciality. The successful applicant will be working within a highly motivated, friendly team who will be delivering high quality standards of care.

Main duties of the job

This post will be working to supporting the existing team in the safe delivery of holistic care to a wide range of cancer patients undergoing day patients treatments.

Under the direction of the unit manager and senior staff, provide high standards of evidence based, quality, holistic, nurse-led care to a wide variety of cancer patients and their carers.

With appropriate training and support safely administer a wide range of cytotoxic chemotherapy drugs and supportive care to patients.

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which:-(a) engages, enables and empowers others(b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and(c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
