Bank Interventional Radiographer – Breast Services

Job summary

This post is seeking a Breast interventional Radiographer to provide bank sessions as required to support the breast services, working alongside Consultant Radiologists and mammographers across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Provide and facilitate a high level of care to patients presenting with, or who are at risk of, breast disease, including the assessment and diagnosis of patients, managing complete episodes of care.

Image Interpretation

Accountable for performing, diagnosing and reporting of complex diagnostic procedures. Formally interpret and correlate imaging examinations and/or perform advanced image interpretation tasks that provide a written report to direct and inform the management of patient care.

Accurately and independently recognise normal and abnormal pathology which may influence results.

Reporting

Issue reports for symptomatic cases that are neither, checked, or second-reported. The report should constitute a definitive unchecked report that will direct and inform patient management to the referring clinician. The report will summarise in a clear concise format the imaging findings in the context of the clinical presentation. Screening cases will be double reported according to local and national protocols.

Interventional Procedures

A combination of the following interventional procedures may be undertaken as part of the clinical workload depending on qualification and training.

Stereotactic core biopsies and wire localisations

Ultrasound guided cyst aspirations, FNA, breast core biopsies, axillary node biopsy, Magseed or RFID placement and wire localisations

Vacuum-assisted biopsy

Vacuum-assisted excision

  • Masters Level or equivalent experience in Mammography
  • HCPC registration

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD in Breast Imaging.
  • Post Graduate award in Mammography
  • Post Graduate qualification in Management

Experience
