Job summary

The role involves proactively monitoring suspected and diagnosed cancer patients that present through the emergency route ensuring that their journey is processed in a timely and efficient manner.

It is essential that the post holder has a full understanding of the Cancer Waiting Times Targets and the impact these have on both patient and Trust.

Main duties of the job

It is very important that the post holder has excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in order of importance. It is also essential to be able to use your own initiative to resolve problems and also work as part of a team in order to meet personal and business objectives.

It is imperative each pathway is streamlined so that patients can be treated within the nationally agreed Cancer Waiting Times.

  • Diploma or equivalent appropriate qualification in health or health and social care, e.g. foundation degree; or NVQ3 level qualification plus short courses or relevant experience to diploma level
  • Management of complex information using the Trusts IT systems
  • Able to articulate information in a clear and concise way

  • Insight into the role, cancer pathways (RDP) and cancer waiting times
