An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Out-of-Hours District Nursing Service in North Tyneside as a part-time Community Staff Nurse.

We are looking for enthusiastic staff nurses to join our district nursing team in North Tyneside. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a team member in an exciting service committed to providing patient centred care to patients in their own homes and residential care settings . We are keen to provide our staff with development opportunities to enhance their skills, knowledge and career progression within the District Nursing Service, while providing high quality and safe service in line with the Trust Values

Main duties of the job

Community staff nurses work autonomously and as part of a team, reporting directly to their team lead. They assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a diverse group of patients with a wide range of conditions and health needs.The delivery of care and support to patients with a terminal illness is a fundamental aspect of care provision.

Community Staff Nurses provide skilled nursing care including aspects of assessment, wound management, palliative care, catheterisation, nurse verification of expected death venepuncture and drug administration by injection. Interpretation of results and the communication of these to patients and medical staff e.g. blood glucose estimation.To maintain a duty of care to patients, carers and colleagues through the exercise of personal and professional accountability.

  • State Registration on Part 1 of the 3 part NMC register
  • Additional clinical qualifications or equivalent derived through experience at diploma / degree level if experienced
  • Newly qualified staff will be required to undertake the Trust preceptorship programme within the first year in post.
  • Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).
