Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy team within JMAPS (Joint Musculoskeletal And Pain Service). The postholder will mainly be based at Wansbeck General Hospital, including working in the gym-based functional rehabilitation unit (Hartford Unit), but may also be required to work at other sites.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist physiotherapists in the treatment of their patients, working to defined protocols and treatment plans.
  • To assist a qualified Physiotherapist in the implementation of treatment programmes for individual patients or groups of patients.
  • To manage own caseload of non-complex patients, with support from qualified Physiotherapists to progress treatments appropriately.
  • To be competent in issuing walking aids.
  • To facilitate arrangement of appointments, transport and ordering of equipment.
  • To be responsible for the overall hygiene & maintenance of the department and equipment.

JMAPS (Joint Musculoskeletal And Pain Service) is the musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service in Northumberland, part of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We have clinics based at Wansbeck General Hospital, Hexham General Hospital, Alnwick Infirmary and Berwick Infirmary, and also at some of the smaller community hospitals and GP practices across the county.
