There is an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and innovative individual to apply for the position of Matron in the Emergency Department in the Medicine & Emergency Care Business Unit. You will join a team of fifteen Matrons, each with responsibility for individual areas across a large Medicine and Emergency Care Business Unit.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Nurse with significant experience at Ward Manager's level or equivalent to join our established Matron team.
The role will be to provide highly visible leadership and have professional responsibility for the development of the nursing teams, by motivating and empowering the teams to ensure high standards of patient centred care. You will demonstrate effective leadership and continually monitor and maintain clinical standards.
The successful candidatewill work closely with the Chief Matron, Operational and GeneralManagers and Business Unit Directors in the delivery of the Trust and Business Unit agenda.
Main duties of the job

- Responsible to the Chief Matron, for coordinating with colleagues, to improve the quality of patient food and the patient's environment and to reduce the risk of cross infection.
- To provide visible, accessible and authoritative presence in the hospital environment.

- Deal with concerns to improve the patient experience, investigate and respond to incidents and complaints.
- To take shared responsibility with the Chief Matron/Lead Clinician/Clinical Director/General Manager for Clinical Governance.
- To lead on improving standards of cleanliness.
- To provide a focus for research and development.
- Responsible, in conjunction with Chief Matron and the Director of Nursing for the implementation of the modernisation agenda for nursing.
