Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides services within the Northumberland and North Tyneside areas. Laboratory services are located at North Tyneside General Hospital, Wansbeck General Hospital and the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, motivated, HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists for a Biomedical Scientist Team Manager post within the Clinical Chemistry Department. The successful candidate will work closely with the Clinical Chemistry senior team to play an important role in the development of the staff and service.
The departments are well equipped with Beckman-Coulter AU 5800 and AU680 analysers, Automate robotic sample handling, TOSOH G11's and Roche Cobas e801 Immunoassay analysers, with Instrument manager and Cobas Infinity middleware. Helena equipment is used to provide the Protein electrophoresis service.
The department is migrating it's LIMS system from Telepath Daedalus LIMS system, to WinPath Enterprise.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to have a good working knowledge of all aspects of Clinical Chemistry. They should also demonstrate good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and have a flexible approach to working.
The post will be based at North Tyneside General Hospital however the successful candidate will be expected to work in other Trust sites if required.
You will work in all sections of the Clinical Chemistry Department . The successful candidate will not be expected to participate in the full out of hours shift rota, however occasional working during unsocial hours may be required when appropriate.

The post holder will act as a Biomedical Scientist Team Manager (Senior BMS / BMS2) in Clinical Chemistry managing a section of the department on a rotational basis ensuring that high quality patient results are produced in an efficient and cost-effective way.
The post holder will assist the Operational and Service Managers to ensure a high quality Clinical Chemistry Service is provided and will be required to undertake duties on any of the three sites within the Trust.The post holder will be expected to role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams/ departments and across organisational boundaries.
You must be capable of managing and supporting change, implementing efficient workflow and be able to support the department in delivering the service within the allocated budget. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills.
