Job summary
Northumbria Digital Services team provide, IT services to all of the Trusts directorates, departments and subsidiaries and this role is to ensure the campus LAN, WAN and Wifi services are correctly designed, implemented, secured and supported to match the digital delivery needs and ambitions of the Trusts digital strategy.
This role is to join an Infrastructure team of Technical Architecture, Server and Network, skilled engineers, who design, implement, manage and maintain the Trusts digital delivery technology.
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the implementation, management and performance of the Northumbria network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, WLAN and DC, (Nexus) services, providing pro-active support to ensure maximum availability and uptime in line with Trust service expectations, agreements and uptime objectives.
- To be part of the Network infrastructure team for the support, maintenance, expansion, design and configuration of the Trusts Cisco and Aruba networks.
- To ensure high availability, security and usability of the network that is transparent to users, and control through the various network applications.
- Provide regular monitoring and reporting of the Network performance and rapid response to incidents.

Essential
- Experience of working on large enterprise grade Cisco and or, Aruba network(s)
- Specialist knowledge of a specific network area, (WAN/LAN/DC/WLAN), acquired through a degree qualification in a computer related discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience gained in a technical network role.
- Additional specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate study or equivalent experience in a relevant computer services discipline.
- Specialist knowledge across range of project management procedures and techniques underpinned by theory.
Desirable
- Appropriate industry recognised qualifications e.g. CCNA, CCNP or equivalent.
