Job summary
The Capital Project Manager is a key member of the NHFM's capital team who will work closely with colleagues both internal and external contributing to the success of the projects in their portfolio and to the overall management of the Company and the services it provides. The post holder will work directly to the Head of Capital and be Client focused whilst being responsible for significant capital schemes.
You will play a key role in supporting a range of Capital projects with associated business, construction and operational activities that reviews and reports on quality, safety, standards, effectiveness, finance, and performance within your sphere of responsibility. The successful candidates will have the skills, knowledge, and leadership qualities to facilitate the delivering of robust project governance, safety and quality and ensure that a great client and staff experience is part of the project team culture.
Main duties of the job
To manage the delivery of a range of Capital Building Projects in accordance with all appropriate requirements, regulations, guidance and obligations.
Support delivery of the capital plan.
Ensure that stakeholders are effectively engaged in projects.
Ensure impacts on clinical services is minimised, agreed and communicated. This will require cross-functional working, information sharing and co-operation across both stakeholders and projects.
To be responsible for the implementation and delivery of all projects to meet performance targets.
Provide options around procurement strategies for a wide range of projects, and illustrate advantages and disadvantages with regard to level of cost certainty, risk and programme.
Manage time, cost and quality on all designated projects. Drive quality including level of compliance, space efficiency, flexibility, sustainability and H&S.
Prepare business cases as required to obtain financial and other approvals to initiate projects and associated level of spend.
Employ and manage large multi-disciplinary teams consisting of consultants, contractors and suppliers in addition to internal stakeholders within NHFM and the Trust. Ensuring approval process in place.
Develop feasibility studies as required including options appraisals, risk assessments, programmes and financial elements.
Carry out post project evaluations and benchmark across the programme.

Responsibilities will include the development of the Project Brief, Project Cost, Project Structure, Project Plan, Governance and Controls Assurance, Procurement Process, Communications strategy, Negotiations.
Ensure capital project business cases are developed and approved through the Trust Business Case process. All significant schemes are required to utilise the Five Case Model
Delivery of projects will include the preparation and coordination of the business cases process. This will require presentation of business cases to a wide variety of technical and managerial committees.
Work as a senior member of the Capital Development Team within NHFM, which has responsibility for the delivery of capital projects. The role will engage with stakeholders from across the NHFM and the Trust to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Provide professional and technical, high quality, cost effective, informed and timely advice that enables sound investment decisions and approvals to be made.
To manage and monitor the capital approved schemes expenditure levels and progress for all designated projects as part of the capital programme.
To participate in the Trusts development groups/Programme Boards on a site-by-site basis and present worked up feasibility schemes and cost plans for selection.
To project manage Trust schemes; either in house or through the appointment of outside consultants.
To ensure design staff and consultants provide up-to-date and as built accurate estate record drawings.
To participate with other teams within NHFML to provide information for all mandatory Estate returns, and as key stakeholders in project delivery.
To appoint and attend meetings with consultants and outside bodies working on Trust schemes or potential schemes, maintaining accurate records of discussions and progress as required.
To ensure Post Project Evaluation of schemes are prepared and lessons learned on future schemes.
To ensure all delegated projects follow the NHFM PM Manual and PMO reporting process ensuring alignment with approved project governance arrangements.
