Job summary
We are looking to recruit an innovative, caring and dynamic OT who would like to further develop their existing skills in children's occupational therapy and in clinical leadership, in particular for children/young people who attend specialist educational settings. The post will involve working into two special schools in Northumberland; Barndale House School, Alnwick and Collingwood School with pupils aged 2-11 years with moderate and severe learning disabilities. The successful candidate will work directly with the school senior leadership teams to develop and then implement whole school improvement at universal and targeted levels as well as working with the existing OT team to develop and improve provision at specialist level.
We would consider candidates who were interested in working term-time hours.
Main duties of the job
The Children's Occupational Therapy Team are passionate about supporting children/young people with SEND and their families. We have well established and strong connections with our Health and Local Authority colleagues allowing us to work in partnership at all levels which was highlighted in Northumberland's recent Local Area SEND inspection report.
The successful candidate should have significant knowledge and skills in the assessment and management of children/young people with complex physical and sensory presentations including those with ASD, social and emotional needs and learning disability. Ideally the successful candidate should also have knowledge and skills in training and supporting educational settings to enhance their provision for children/young people with physical and sensory difficulties.
